What is Physical Ensemble Theatre?
Physical Ensemble Theatre is a multi-disciplinary style of theatre that incorporates movement and sound, as well as scripted and original texts, all rooted in the process of creating a strong ensemble.
It is a style of theatre in which the entire cast contributes to each scene and performs onstage for the duration of the play to create the setting and environment for the play. Set and use of props is minimal.
During the rehearsal process, as much emphasis is given to the development of the ensemble’s role in each scene as to the scripted scenes with each ensemble member encouraged to contribute their ideas during the rehearsal process.
Before script work begins, focus is placed on developing the ensemble through improvisation, movement, games and vocal work.
